This hard block goes between the carburetor base and the intake manifold as a heat shield. Often times these are cracked and can cause the same symptoms as an intake manifold leak. Check yours anytime you remove the carburetor. Bolt hole centers are 2-3/4. Center hole size is 1-5/8.
